Hi Janette,

Selecting peppercorn grind size comes down to application. The finer the grind size, the quicker the pepper’s flavor will incorporate into the dish.

If you’re seasoning a sauce or a soup, you’ll want a finer grind size of pepper so it doesn’t affect the texture. Since ground white pepper is used mainly in cream sauces, we offer it only in an extra fine grind size.

If you’re seasoning a steak, roast, or hamburger, a coarse grind size is suitable. The same is true for recipes that call for longer cooking times.

When in doubt, you can select our Coarse Grind Tellicherry pepper as a general-purpose grind size.

Hi Spice House, I want to get some ground telicherry pepper for recipes that call for a half teaspoon or more of pepper. What is the best size grind to purchase for this purpose? Thanks, Janette
