Karen Page & Andrew Dornenburg

We had a wonderful time with Patty and Tom Erd of the Spice House this past week, and can't thank them and their amazing teams in Milwaukee, Chicago and Geneva enough for hosting us for such an incredible series of events.

But just to set the record straight, we would *never* have the arrogance to compare ourselves to an icon like Julia Child -- at any age! We do recall confiding how surprised we are when today's chefs who grew up on our books BECOMING A CHEF and CULINARY ARTISTRY seem to be as excited when we visit their restaurants as Andrew was as a young cook 20 years ago when Julia would grace the dining room of the East Coast Grill and Biba in Boston. But any comparison we'd make to Julia definitely stops there, so we apologize if that was misunderstood.

The Spice House is a wonderful beacon of flavor in the Midwest, and we are so happy for every delicious moment of our visit -- and especially the chance to sit down with Patty and Tom over some delicious bites and sips at Niche in Geneva, where we appreciated the chef's warm welcome. A million thanks to the Erds for their incredible hospitality and support of our latest labor of love THE FLAVOR BIBLE!

Delicious wishes,
Karen & Andrew
